Problems with VPN with 8320 tethered as modem

We have an 8320 tethered as a modem to a windows xp sp2 laptop. It works great to browse the internet, but we are unable to connect our Sonicwall Global VPN Client through the blackberry. We get to the point where the Sonicwall Pro 2040 firewall authenticates the client, but for some reason the blackberry will not pass the VPN IP address from our DHCP server back to the laptop. Of note, we are able to connect and successfully pass the IP address using a Verizon Windows Mobile 6 Samsung i760 tethered to the same laptop and also using Verizon EVDO from a built in modem card. While Verizon works great in the US, we are trying to get the blackberry to work with the VPN for travel overseas. It seems to be a problem with the ipsec. Ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks.
