Sportfive is an international sports rights marketing agency with a global network of locations and affiliated companies. Sportfive was formed in 2001 when the European Commission unconditionally approved the merger between the sports rights activities of Jean-Claude Darmon, Sport+, a subsidiary of Canal+ Group, and RTL Group’s sports rights division, UFA Sports. In 2004 the private equity firm Advent International finalised its acquisition of Sportfive,[1] and in November 2006 sold it to the French media giant Lagardère for an estimated €865 million.[2] Since that time, Sportfive has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Lagardère.

How to Watch and Follow the Sochi Winter Olympics Online

The Sochi Winter Olympics kick off on Feb. 7. The BBC purchased rights to the Olympics through 2020, and previously streamed the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Neil Hall, product manager of BBC Sport, told Mashable in an email: “This new approach to digital live event coverage has its roots firmly in the success of our 2012 Olympics proposition. The London games provided us with both a strong technical legacy and a terrific amount of audience data and insight into how people used our unique coverage to help us shape this new proposition across screens.

The BBC has combined all its offerings — live video streams, Radio 5 live coverage, statistics and digital journalism — into one place, allowing viewers to choose content without switching between platforms, sites or apps.

Unfortunately for viewers in the United States, BBC streaming is only available to residents of the UK. NBC, which owns the digital streaming rights in the U.S., will be streaming 1,000 hours of coverage of the Olympics at NBCOlympics.com. However, a cable subscription is necessary to access all of NBC's streaming content.

List of 2014 Winter Olympics broadcasters

The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi will be televised by a number of broadcasters throughout the world. As with previous years, Olympic Broadcasting Services will produce the world feed provided to local broadcasters for use in their coverage. In most regions, broadcast rights to the 2014 and 2016 Olympics were packaged together, but some broadcasters obtained rights to further games as well, while in Australia, the 2014 Games were offered individually after all three major networks were unable to reach a deal for both.
